Training

i’m training for a half ironman triathlon and hoping that the training can carry me on through two races and to the finish line of the MCM in DC on Halloween. The ironman happening in augusta on september 26. i have to say that i spend an unreasonable amount of time training and preparing to the point that my friends think i’ve lost my mind. fortunately, my family thinks it’s awesome.

here is my fall schedule of events:

Sept 26: Ironman 70.3 Augusta: approximately 6 hours of me torturing myself physically and mentally on a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run

Oct 22-23: Kentucky Bourbon Chase: 200 mile relay across the state of Kentucky, visiting distilleries on the way!) Lexington, KY

Oct 31: Marine Corps Marathon, Washington, DC. 26.2 miles of chasing men in uniform.

My current training involves 11-15 hours per week of run, swim, bike, and a combination of 2 or more of those. 4 days per week, i do double workouts. 2 days per week are individual sport long days. and by long, i mean more than 2 hours worth. this gets really lonely (and i consider it to be the majority of my “me” time), so if you are ever looking for a training partner, i’d love for you to go with me for part (or all) of any workout!
