I'm sure we'll talk at other times about this, but I just wanted to tell you you're amazing, and there is nothing wrong with constantly exploring who you are and working on who you are. Matt made a comment to me one time about "are you ever gonna be done going to therapy?" I told him that I might not ever. But therapy doesn't always mean going to my therapist and spilling my guts about my experiences every few weeks. It means that I will ALWAYS be working on myself, whether it be with a therapist or just evaluating myself and my strengths and weaknesses from time to time. It's something that terrifies me, but I'm willing to always do.

I tend to get long winded too..and it made sense to me what you said. I like to explore options and make people understand. I think gossip and hearsay happens sometimes because people don't understand and don't want to take the time to listen to someone else. Even if no one reads your blogs, or gets mad at you for writing things out, don't ever stop...Writing is SO therapeutic, and it's a great way to get to know yourself even more. I used to do it so much wish I still did.

On men, one of my favorite preachers gave a 4-part sermon on love and relationships, and it seriously changed my thoughts on what I wanted in a man from that day on. I have the series if you want to borrow it one day. (If anything, a 300lb ex-football player black man is good for some entertainment...he was hilarious!) He made us make lists of "he MUST be" and "she MUST be". It showed us what it meant to never compromise your basic needs and change who you are and what you want for a man...basically, a form of "never settle". We're so quick to settle sometimes because we're afraid of being alone or feel like we'll never find that someone. There were many other dynamics that he talked about, but I've said enough I suppose. I'll talk to you more about it if you're interested. :) Love you and see you in like, 30 minutes. lol

to the point of gigs,

what is the point of being with someone who doesn't make you feel special? isn't that the point of a relationship? if the guy i'm in a relationship with can't (or doesn't want to) make me feel any more important than anyone else, then why should i put in the effort to give them a special status or extra effort/attention? and what makes him different than any other person in my life?

You are probably going to hate me for this, but I am going to say there is a lot of inequity in a justice system that gives a peeping tom a 27 month prison sentence, and a someone convicted of vehicular manslaughter 30 days. I won't even bring up a certain athlete who received 18 months. I think it is pretty piss-poor that whether a celebrity is the victim or the suspect, the system tends to sway justice in his/her favor.

Meh, had this have happened on 9/11 it would be just as much of a non-issue. You would have still had someone right there next to the kid, with a headset on and the mic turned off who could immediately turn his mic on and the kids off. A non-story is a non-story, but we have FOUR 24-hr news networks and if you're going to fill all that airtime with "news" you're going to have to grasp at every little straw and public outrage topic you can. Look how much coverage Tiger Woods, a golfer (aka no home team), got for sleeping around? And not just on the sports channels, but all of them. Tell me how this is news... famous celebrity fucks chick whose not wife. Next thing you know you'll tell me Congressman illegally takes money! But you won't talk about that for NEARLY as long as said celebrity even though it is far more relevant and said congressman will get re-elected anyways.

They fall asleep because they are bored. Almost all in-flight tracking is done by computers, and there are a million safeguards to keep accidents from happening. Apparently the press just needs something to bitch about now that the Jay Leno story has gone cold.

Yea, that was up in the NE, Penn, NJ, Maine, & Mass. I think. Really neat idea to stop holding back the kids who want to push and let the teachers focus on the kids that need help rather than keeping the others entertained. The obvious question is whether those students are emotionally ready for a CC at 16, but if handled correctly I see no reason why not.

Lindsay, you skipped the biggest crap degree in the nation, PSYCHOLOGY. History majors normally know they can't do crap w/ their degree, but I know several psych majors from tiny little CC's who don't know why the only job they can find is as a flight attendant or receptionist when "i got a college education." Fuck that, u got drunk for 2-5 years at a crappy school and got a diploma that basically reads "I continued going to HS and wasted a lot of mommy n daddy n tax payer money." Ok, you already ranted about this but fuck self-entitlement!

I think you skipped over a really big sentence that kinda showcased how the study was performed. It was performed to prove that XXX causes higher / lower IQ, rather than higher / lower IQ lends itself to believing XXX.

Atheism “allows someone to move forward and speculate on life without any concern for the dogmatic structure of a religion,” Bailey said.

To me that sentence right there says a lot about how they conducted their poll and their analysis of the data. Not only did they confuse correlation vs. causation they said the result (being liberal / atheist) causes the symptom (higher IQ)

Homer Simpson - Pfft. Facts are meaningless. You could use facts to prove anything that's even remotely true!

I recently saw something that gave me a glimmer of hope in the case of falling education. One of the statistics that is always brought up during educational reform is classroom size. In order to combat this, some states have offered incentives to students to graduate from high school early, as much as three years early in some cases. The students who want to work hard and get ahead can be taking college courses (at a four year institution) at the age of 16, thereby freeing up classroom and teacher contact for other students who need it more. Who knows how this will play out, but as someone who spent most of his senior year bored and drinking in the parking lot, this sounds like a good idea.
